HB-17224 KAVVE AUR KALA PANI (1983), awarded with the Sahitya Akademi Award (1985), includes seven of his stories. The background of some of these stories is Indian while some stories introduce us to the sadness of European lands. Nirmal Verma gave a very sensitive, capable and transparent language to the Hindi story and made the inner voids of man visible in it. Each story included in this collection gave rise to widespread reactions and often debates in its time.
